Intelligence – The Thinking Process

Somebody contacted me and asked if I would make a lesson about intelligence.
I asked the Great White Brotherhood and they’ve given me a number of pages of information but they did say that what they have given me is only an overview about intelligence and there’s more to the subject and if anybody is interested in learning about intelligence to a greater depth, they would be happy to provide more information.

Here we go:

You may have noticed that humans tend to have the ability to think and to puzzle things out, whereas most animals only have a limited ability to think.
Before we discuss humans, let us first discuss how and why most animals have only a limited ability to think and to puzzle how to solve problems.

There have been, over time, a number of tests on animals to demonstrate their abilities to problem solving and experiments have been created to see just what the limits on animal intelligence is.
Generally speaking, these tests have been directed towards pushing animals to demonstrate their problem solving capabilities, in relation to what animals are interested in.
For instance, there have been a variety of tests concocted to enable animals to get a tid bit of food, or to enable them to open a cage.

Most animals are interested in obtaining a tasty morsel of food and many would like to escape from the confines of whatever cage in which they are confined.
Thus, they have motivation to solve problems, which is the secret to them using their intelligence to solve any problem.
It seems that the actions they employ, in order to get food or liberty, are often based on acts that they would employ in their daily existence.
It is rare that original thought is demonstrated, it does happen but is rare, if one takes the trouble to trace the origin of any act back to the state that they employed in the wild.

However, we can also see that they have employed modified behavior or techniques in order to obtain the ends that they now desire.
So, it is clear that a limited intelligence is used.

It has also been noted of an effect known as the 100th Monkey syndrome, in which a group of animals start to learn a new technique.
At some point, it is miraculously transmitted to groups of similar animals, remote from the first group that learn a new technique.
This is interesting because if one group of animals remote from another, can start to emulate behavior, only known to the first group, it implies that a sort of transference of information, remote from any physical transference.
We could understand that if one group was in physical contact with a second group of animals, by simple observation, they could ape the acts of the first group, but this is not the case.

First, one animal in a group stumbles on a new way to do something which is copied by others.
But, at a certain point, when enough animals of a particular group have learned this new technique, animals in a remote group start automatically to copy this new technique without ever seeing it demonstrated.

Science wonders how this can happen.
But for those who have followed our teachings, it is fairly obvious that all life is one, although according to whether one is human or animal and according to which animal class they belong, this oneness is separated to a certain degree.
Also, there is only one higher self, one imagination but, as before, according to the class of entity one belongs to, the reactions of higher self and imagination can alter.

This implies that what we call intelligence is governed by another part of us, that allows intelligence to be more or less prominent.
When we mentioned this, we are implying intelligent reactions to different scenarios, according to whether one is human or animal and the degree that the entity is able to contact his higher self.

In the case of animals, each species has a group form of intelligence but at the same time, each animal, in any class of animals, can appear to have more or less individual intelligence.

Let us explain this a little more.

It is generally accepted that most humans appear to be more intelligent than most animals but even between any class of animals, intelligence can vary.
It would be accepted that most humans are more intelligent than, say, a snail.
Equally, if we could consider dogs, some races appear to be more intelligent than others but within any one race of dogs, some appear more intelligent than others.
We use the word “appear” to be more intelligent because in theory, if all is equal, there should be one level of intelligence for all things but this does not seem to be the case.

We get the impression, whether we are dealing with animals or humans, the degree of education and of training plays a role.
Some animals can be taught to do things that appear to require a great deal of intelligence, whilst it proves almost impossible to train others.
Similarly, in the case of humans, some seem to be able to master certain acts or subjects quicker than others.
But in order to understand what intelligence is, we also need to understand that some people or animals may struggle to master one aspect of education whilst they may be very good at mastering another subject.
If we may give an example with humans, one person may struggle with mathematics but could learn to play a musical instrument easily.

So, we are going round and around with this topic intelligence because the more we think about it, the more we realize that intelligence is a complex, multi-faceted subject and unfortunately, as is so often the case, we cannot describe intelligence in just a few words.
It is not just a function of the brain, although we would readily admit that if someone has a damaged brain, the ability to express intelligence would be impaired.

There is a difference between intelligence and the ability to express that intelligence.
Also, there is a difference between intelligence and trotting out information learned by reading from books.
Also, we need to differentiate between intelligence and counting, which, unfortunately, is something that many politicians, bankers and other rulers of the world fail to recognize.
In our opinion, intelligence is part of the ability to look out for and to look after others and not just use intelligence for self advancement or self preservation.

Many animals, whom we would regard as distinctly lacking in intelligence, have self preservation well developed.
So, we draw a distinction between intelligence and cunning.
We will also mention genius, which has been described as the ability of making an intellectual leap from known knowledge, to a new knowledge, without following any logical process from one to the other.
It is a direct link to a new understanding.

So let us return to considering intelligence in relation to humans.
In simple terms, intelligence comes in the degree that we are able to contact our higher self and through imagination, transmuting the blocks of information that the higher self provides to the imagination plain and allowing that imagination plain, to break those blocks of information into a stream, that can be understood by the mind.

Let us once again briefly examine higher self.
Those who have read and understood information that we have provided in other works, will understand that very early man, long before incarnation was brought into place, was faced with a large number of problems and allowed the time necessary to solve those problems.
So, we may assume that early man had solved all the problems that could ever occur, this information was passed to God and God started to become wise.
Thus, Higher Self has all the answers to all the problems that man could face.
So, we hope you can realize that it suffices to contact higher self to be able to obtain the answers to any question with which we might be faced.

Problem solving is what we refer to as intelligence, with the exception of genius, which is a different technique for gathering information.

Earlier in this discussion, we considered a number of ways in which humans and animals are able to gather information and it can seem very complicated, if and when, with any problem to which an answer is required, we do not have the ability to contact higher self to reach conclusions so we need to use other mental exercises to reach conclusions.
But for those who are able to delve into higher self, it suffices to locate within higher self, that part that contains the answer to whatever problem we have and then allow the imagination plane to sort out the answer into a meaningful stream.
This then is passed to the mind and eventually the brain and we have the answer to our problem.

So, how do we contact Higher Self, the easiest and most consistent manner is to follow the spiritual path, as higher self is a spiritual force.
If we follow the spiritual path for long enough, we can open a door between us and higher self, in which case, as a problem arises, Higher Self provides the answer.
Once we get to this point, we are considered wise.
We could describe wisdom as intelligence, mixed with spirituality but it all relates in the ability to contact higher self.
