Fear struck through my heart after I read what the Great White Brotherhood stated was a requirement for one to join them… they must be cheerful. My heart sank. I must admit, when I was younger, I was certainly more cheerful that I feel I am lately.

I think, sometimes, that we are not in a position to judge ourselves.
I will give you an example.
I used to work in a college, one day, I was in the secretariat – where the office girls worked – talking to some of the girls, when a work colleague walked in. I could see that he was trying to push himself onto the girls but he had a problem. He was not a very nice person.
After a while, he realised that the girls preferred to talk to me, rather than him. This goaded him somewhat and he mentioned that the girls preferred me to him.
One of the girls pipped up and said, “Oh, we like to speak to Bob because he is always so cheerful and he makes us feel cheerful.”
I replied, off the top of my head, “If God loves me, why should people not love me?”
But I never realised that I was considered to be a cheerful person.
I had the same problems as everyone else and struggled with life. I just got on with life.
But it taught me some lessons.
Being cheerful is important but being humble is also important.
I never thought of myself as being cheerful. But, as you said, the GWB accepted me, so they must consider that I am a cheerful person.
Perhaps we should not judge ourselves and just do our best.
Please accept yourself.
We can all only do our best and hope for the best.

I completely agree with you. It is the sort of thing where others can see you better than you can see yourself.
