The Bible is quite right to warn against mediums in general.
Most of them, I am sorry to say, are frauds.
Others who channel are getting all sorts of rubbish from the etheric realm. Most have not taken the long years of training that it takes to learn to contact the higher 4th dimension, where true guides live.
So be careful of what you read or listen to on the internet.
In relation to that topic, a lady contacted me and said that she had seen a number of mediums who had told her about previous lives and she asked me why I think that we only have one incarnation when she has had many in Russia, England, Ireland, etc.
I asked my guides if they could help and this is the reply I got, this comes from my guides.
The answer is simple.
Mediums often pick up on etheric beings that are hovering in the etheric realm close to people. This does not imply that the person is influenced by these beings but, if someone has sufficient spirituality to project light into the etheric realm, the beings who live there, some of them, would be attracted to that light and try to study the person emitting it.
This is the case of the person who contacted you.
They would also be aware of the searching for answers done by the medium. As he or she, possibly in response to your question about past lives, reaches into the etheric, these beings would give any answer that comes to their mind. They would be playing a game as far as they are concerned.
Because they are not human in any sense that we would understand, they feel no remorse about just saying any answer that occurs to them. The medium, of course, has no means of knowing with whom he is really in contact.
So, there is the answer.
Be careful when dealing with mediums. Most of them are not very well trained and are thus being manipulated by little “nature spirits” that hang about in the etheric realm.
