The Test – Path To Perfection

I once asked one of my guides about achieving perfection whilst here on Earth and he replied that it was perfectly possible but, because of all the distractions, temptations and so on, the chances of achieving perfection whilst incarnate were very slim.

He also mentioned that there are roads where one must walk alone with no one to help. It sounded a bit sinister to me and, as he was saying this, I felt that he was himself worried about facing this test.
He did not elaborate on it so I don’t know what its purpose is but I get the impression that it is quite a severe test.
Perhaps that is what is talked about in the Bible when it says that Jesus went into the desert for 40 days to fast and meditate.

People sometimes contact me and say that they have been through this test but I think that it is just the new age loonies pretending to approach perfection.
From what has been said, perfection – becoming God – is a long, long road. I can’t imagine being that perfect and I am certainly not ready to face this “being alone” test yet.

This test.

Now I come to think of it, the guide did mention something about it.
If I am not mistaken, he said that, as one approaches perfection, there is one last big hurdle to get over.

One always retains a small amount of ego – even in the spiritual world.

Down here, this ego is vitally necessary to protect us from the swirling mass of negative thoughts: fear, anger, lust and so on, that are in the etheric realm. It is our ego that protects us from the blast of that force that would destroy us if it went, so we always retain a small amount of it. It is a barrier between us and the outside, invading world.

However, as we grow in spirituality, our ego diminishes, replaced by positive emotions.
Nevertheless, we always retain a small amount of this ego. It is part of our basic makeup.

When we are on the doorstep of perfection and preparing to merge with the Godhead, we cannot do so until this last bit of ego is disposed of.

This apparently, as it is a core part of us, is very difficult to do and requires that we retire so that we can battle, on our own, with this problem.
The reason that it is so difficult is that it was one of the first parts that was put into us when our oversoul made us, we have had it sitting quietly within us, just doing its job of protecting us, and it will be the last bit that we need to let go of as we approach the door of perfection.

To persuade it that it no longer is required to protect us, is very difficult, apparently and causes enormous upheaval within us as we wave it bye-bye.
This remaining ego doesn’t want us to be emotionally naked, just relying on the power of God to protect us, so it clings to us as hard as it can.
It also requires monumental courage to stand naked before God with no armour of ego clothing us.

That is what I remember about this walking alone quote.
